The Sixteenth Century Moors

The Moors had a great impact on European Society. The Moors were Black Africans. In the early 18th century Moor soldiers came to Europe from the region of Africa. They inhabited Spain, Portugal, and France. The Moor soldiers suddenly became famous for their victories throughout Europe. Morien, for example, is the adventure of a heroic Moorish knight supposed to have lived during the days of King Arthur (The Moors In Europe). The word Morien commonly refers to the Moors as being mostly black. William Shakespeare used the word Moor as a synonym for African. Speakers of European languages have historically designated a number of ethnic groups "Moors". The term “Moor” continues to be associated with those of Morrocan ethnicity living in Europe. Moor can also describe mainly any person from North Africa.
